Securely Connecting Your Apps with Open Banking

At ConnectOne Bank, your privacy and security are our top priorities. We’ve upgraded to an "Open Access" Banking standard to provide a safer, more reliable way for you to link your bank accounts to the third-party financial apps you use every day, like budgeting tools and investment trackers.

Without Open Access: If you wanted to link your ConnectOne Bank account to a payment app like Venmo, you had to type your actual bank username and password directly into their app. While convenient, it meant a third party was holding onto your most sensitive login details.

With Open Access: You no longer share your private login credentials with third-party apps. When you go to link Venmo, you will be securely routed directly to ConnectOne Bank to authorize a secure, one-way "data feed." Venmo gets exactly the information it needs to safely transfer funds, but it never sees or stores your password.

* Open access is not available everywhere.

Why Open Access?

  • Enhanced Security
Your sensitive login credentials are never seen or stored by outside applications.
  • More Control
You decide exactly which accounts and what type of data you want to share with each app.
  • Built for Safety
The system utilizes secure connections and advanced security features to ensure all data is protected.

Spotting An Open Access Connection

Clients will be prompted to reauthenticate and establish the more secure connection.

Moving forward, you may receive a notification inside your linked third-party apps asking you to re-authenticate or log in again annually. When you see this prompt, simply follow the steps to log in through our secure ConnectOne Bank screen. It only takes a minute, and it ensures your connection is upgraded to our highest security standard.

Important Note: The data feed connection is one-way. It only pulls information from Personal and Business Online Banking, and you will be unable to see the ERP information within your ConnectOne Bank platform.

Better Control with Business Accounts

Business Account holders have the extra benefit of controling which users can connect to 3rd party systems. Learn about Open Access entitlements for Business Online Banking.
