Beware of Impersonation Scams
Understanding Spoofing
Spoofing is a dangerous impersonation scam where fraudsters pretend to be ConnectOne Bank, often faking our phone number to trick you into revealing sensitive information. They may falsely claim fraudulent transactions, ask to "verify" transfers, or demand payments to "reverse" non-existent fraud, all to obtain your usernames, passwords, PINs, or other personal details.
What To Know:
- Never share personal credentials: ConnectOne Bank will never ask for your online banking password, PIN, one-time passcodes, token numbers, or full credit card numbers over the phone, via email, or text message.
- Be wary of urgent requests: Scammers create urgency (e.g., "fraudulent activity," "account frozen") to pressure you. Always pause and independently verify the situation.
How to Protect Yourself:
Verify Phone Calls
If you receive a call and aren’t sure if the person you’re speaking with is legitimate, hang up and do not provide any personal or financial information. Look for a verified phone number on the company's website.
